Whiplash, also known as Cervical Acceleration Deceleration (CAD), is caused by an abnormal motion or force applied to the neck or back which causes the body to extend beyond its anatomical limit. Although whiplash can be caused by a number of activities, such as contact sports, or a blow to the head, the most frequent cause of whiplash is a car accident. 80% of car accidents occur at less than 25 mph. The most common scenario for whiplash is getting hit from behind. When your body is thrown forward, your head is thrown backward, causing a violent hyperextension of the neck before the head is thrown forward in the rebound hyper flexion. When the auto accident is a head on collision the injury is even more serious because the muscles at the top of the neck and the base of the skull can undergo severe strain. Symptoms such as neck and back pain, swelling, headaches and muscle spasms may occur immediately, or take several days to surface after a motor vehicle collision. If you have suffered from a recent or past car accident and are feeling pain, weakness, numbness or tingling, please contact us today. Dr. Adamson has vast experience working with motor vehicle accidents, and will quickly diagnose your condition and start you on a successful treatment plan. Through various chiropractic techniques, strength training, and conditioning exercises, Dr. Adamson can offer you a complete recovery.

Work related injuries are common and can be difficult to heal because of the vulnerable state your body is in following an accident. Work related injuries are also known as Cumulative Trauma Disorder (CTD). CTD is the biggest injury in the workforce and general population in this country. According to federal statistics it now surpasses back pain, worsening by 670 percent in the last 5 years. Cumulative trauma disorder is a group of injuries to the muscles, tendons, bones, blood vessels, and nerves. CTD results from acute injury, repetitive injury, or a constant pressure/tension to an affected area. Some examples of CTD include Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tendinitis, neck and shoulder pain, and low back pain.
Dr. Adamson treats these conditions daily, and has much success with returning injured workers back to the workforce. Dr. Adamson custom tailors her treatment towards your needs in order to help you recover and return to work safely and effectively. Treatments may include adjustments, soft tissue therapy, exercise rehabilitation, and creating new habits.
